Reconversión y mixtura educacional-habitacional en Chile: Propuesta de un modelo de gestión
Large Latin American cities are characterized by high socio-spatial segregation. In Chile, a severe housing deficit and shortage of well-located land to produce social housing is also identified. However, recent urban and housing legislation aimed at urban regeneration would make it possible to take advantage of under used land inconsolidated areas of cities. This article explores the reconversion of state educational facilities to link them with housing. A management model is proposed for mixed-use projects, combining the replacement of educational infrastructure with the construction of housing. Based on a documentary-normative analysis and interviews with experts, the technical, regulatory and financial viability of the model is analyzed. Finally, recommendations for public policy are presented.
