Pseudoquiste hepático secundario a derivación ventriculo peritoneal, una complicación inusual: Reporte de caso
Ventriculoperitoneal shunts are used as part of the management of hydrocephalus. Their abdominal complications have an incidence ranging from 5% to 47%. Among these, cerebrospinal fluid hepatic pseudocysts are a significant entity. An 85-year-old female patient presented with abdominal pain. Imaging studies revealed a homogeneous intrahepatic collection secondary to the migration of a ventriculoperitoneal shunt. Management included laparoscopic drainage of the collection, followed by microorganism isolation and initiation of targeted antibiotic therapy. Complications associated with ventriculoperitoneal shunts, although varied, can have a significant impact on clinical and surgical management. The laparoscopic approach to managing this complication allows patients to benefitfrom the advantages and improved postoperative outcomes offered by minimally invasive surgery.
