Percepción de la calidad de vida en pacientes con dialisis peritoneal en atención primaria
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) leads to a progressive and irreversible decline in kidney function, significantly affecting patients’ quality of life (QoL), particularly those receiving renal replacement therapies such as peritoneal dialysis. This observational, descriptive, and cross-sectional study was conducted at the Family Medicine Unit No. 69 "Marina Anaya" with the objective of assessing QoL perception among patients undergoing continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD), between December 2023 and December 2024. A total of 153 patients aged over 31 were included, excluding pediatric patients, pregnant women, and those not undergoing peritoneal dialysis. The SF-36 questionnaire was used, and sociodemographic variables were analyzed using GraphPad Prism. The majority of participants were female (59%), with most between 51 and 60 years old. Regarding education, 37% had completed primary school, and 71% were single. Results revealed that younger patients with greater autonomy and stronger emotional and social support showed a better perception of their QoL. The study concludes that, despite the limitations posed by CKD, patients on peritoneal dialysis can achieve good QoL when provided with comprehensive care, especially mental and physical health support, to prevent emotional decline associated with the disease.
