Neurofibromatosis intestinal como causa de sangrado de tubo digestivo. Experiencia en la Clínica Hospital ISSSTE Celaya reporte de caso
The occurrence of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) in the small intestine is rare, infrequent and, to date, rarely described. Histologically, their presentation can be varied and depends mainly on the cell type from which they originate. Within this group of tumors we find neurofibromatosis which causes the development of tumors originating from nerve tissue. Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF-1) or Von Recklinghausen's disease causes benign and malignant tumors in the nervous tissue. It occurs in 1 case for every 3000 - 4000 people worldwide. Gastrointestinal involvement is seen in 5-25% of patients, usually presenting late in the disease and after skin manifestations. Only 5% present with symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, palpable mass, bleeding, intestinal obstruction or perforation. The following is a case report of a woman with a history of NF-1 gastrointestinal bleeding secondary to neurofibromas in the gastrointestinal tract and a review of the current literature on gastrointestinal involvement.
