Mi jefe es una ap y me explota: subjetividades de precariedad de repartidores y conductores de aplicaciones bajo demanda¹

The uberization of work constitutes a new way of organizing work within the framework of capitalist accumulation on which subjectivities are produced and reproduced. This study analyzes the repertoires on which the process of subjectivation of workers of mobile applications (apps) of home and transportation services in the city of Santiago de Cali (Colombia) is located. An empirical study with a qualitative approach was proposed in which 24 workers participated through a semi-structured interview. The results were analyzed through a Critical Discourse Analysis and discussed according to the contributions of the Social Studies of Work and Critical Studies of Management. It is found that under precarious working conditions associated with vulnerability and exposure to danger due to the tasks performed and the absence of social protection, the participants position themselves based on different labels as workers and incorporate a discourse of freedom and autonomy that it offers the flexibility of working with apps and that coexists with a “self-exploitation” configured by a subordinate relationship with the apps and their algorithms.
