ISO 9001 y los Resultados de Negocio (Desempeño) en las MiPyMEs de Chihuahua
This study analyzes the influence of the implementation of an ISO 9001 quality management system (QMS) on business results (performance) of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico. Although ISO 9001 is recognized for its potential to improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction, its effectiveness in specific local contexts—such as that of Chihuahua’s SMEs—still requires further exploration. A literature review and an empirical study were conducted through the application of surveys to a sample of certified companies. Statistical analyses were used to identify correlations between the degree of QMS implementation and various organizational performance indicators, framed within the perspectives of the Balanced Scorecard (BSC). The results reveal significant correlations only in certain dimensions, suggesting that the impact of the QMS depends on factors such as the implementation approach, organizational culture, and the use of performance measurement and evaluation models. The article concludes with practical implications for SMEs, business and professional chambers, certification bodies (CBs), and offers recommendations for future research.
