La Empresa Familiar en México y la Gestión del Conflicto
Family businesses are a key institution for the development of any country. In Mexico, more than 80% of companies are family-owned and represent a significant source of employment. Despite this, they are not exempt from facing problems that could lead to their disappearance. Literature suggests that conflict, in its multiple forms, is one of the main causes of this. Therefore, this article provides a review on the subject, highlighting the main strategies for managing conflicts in family businesses. Results point out tools such as the family protocol and the family council; Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanisms (ADR) such as mediation; and key aspects such as dialogue and trust. We conclude that conflict is neither good nor bad, since it represents an opportunity for learning and growth; what matters is to know how to deal with it to ensure the sustainability and transcendence of the family business.
