La Gráfica contemporánea: Entre el arte y la transdisciplina
The article addresses the concept of contemporary graphic arts through a historical review of its original meaning, as well as its connection to transdisciplinarity. The objective is to explore how contemporary graphic arts break away from the conventionalities of fine arts to interact with other media and disciplines, favoring a transdisciplinary approach to art. More specifically, the article proposes a typology of contemporary graphic arts that includes new hybrid artistic practices, aiming to broaden the notion of graphic arts within the field of art, as well as its understanding. A methodology was applied, divided into the following steps: review of bibliographic material, analytical comparison of case studies, and the development of a typology that allows the grouping of various contemporary graphic manifestations. The results highlight the expansion of graphic arts as a medium by integrating with diverse media and activities, such as video, walking, or tailoring, leading to a departure from the conventional boundaries of fine arts. This research suggests that contemporary graphic arts is a constantly evolving medium that presents a vast horizon for creativity. Through its combinations and hybridizations, it not only broadens the current notion of graphic arts but also reshapes the form of art in general.
