La hibridación cultural de América. Breve revisión de Cornelius de Pauw y Javier Clavijero
This study explores representations of America and Americans proposed by Pauw and Clavijero based on the concepts of cultural hybridization of García Canclini and tradition by Velasco. The first section investigates the hybridization of the American landscape as depicted in two editions of Diderot’s Encyclopedia, emphasizing the complex discourse surrounding Cornelius De Pauw’s notion of the savage. Following this, an analysis critiques Javier Clavijero’s nationalist interpretations, challenging his portrayal of ancient Mexicans by examining narratives that blend hegemonic influences with obscured traditions.
