Kırkağaç ve Ananas Tipi Kavunlarda (Cucumis Melo L.) Işınlanmış Polen Kullanılarak Haploid Embriyo Indüksiyonu ve Saf Hat Üretimi
This study evaluates the parthenogenetic fruit setting, haploid embryo induction and pure line production processes performed with irradiated pollen in 2 Ananas and 1 Kırkağaç type melon (Cucumis melo L.) genotypes. In the study, significant differences were observed among the genotypes as a result of using pollen irradiated with Co60 radiation source. Fruit setting success was achieved in No. 1 and 2 Ananas group genotypes with 86.00% and 82.00%, respectively, and in No. 3 Kırkağaç genotype with 45.31%. In addition, haploid embryo induction rates were determined as 84.94%, 48.05% and 56.16%, respectively. As a result of colchicine applications, 100% pure lines were obtained from haploid plants. As a result of in vivo colchicine applications, the highest doubling rate was observed in No. 2 Ananas genotype with 76.83%; The lowest doubling rate was determined in the Kırkağaç genotype No. 3 with a rate of 40.65%. These results show that the Irradiated Pollen Pollination Technique may be an effective method to obtain 100% pure lines in melon breeding programs.
