Inclusión Social de Personas con Discapacidad en la Asociación Sembrando Vida
Justification: the persistent social exclusion of people with disabilities in rural areas such as Pastocalle calls for an analysis of their experiences to promote effective inclusion aligned with their lived realities and to strengthen rights from local perspectives.. Objective: to analyze the social inclusion processes of people with disabilities affiliated with the "Sembrando Vida" Association in Pastocalle, Cotopaxi province. Methodology: a qualitative, descriptive, and cross-sectional study was conducted with ten participants selected through purposive sampling. The semi-structured interview guide was validated by expert review. Data was analyzed thematically, using open and axial coding, within the framework of the social model of disability.. Results: the findings revealed persistent labor exclusion: formal rejection, lack of accommodations, and informal economic self-management. Overprotective family dynamics were observed in response to community discrimination. Civic participation was minimal due to prejudice and physical barriers, despite a clear interest in integration. Conclusions: authentic inclusion requires protected employment, family-based independent living programs, and universal accessibility framed within a rights-based and distributive justice approach. Social work emerges as a key discipline for coordinating intersectoral actions that transform isolated assistance into sustainable processes of social inclusion.
