Inteligencia general y habilidades motrices en niños de educación inicial

Introduction: Child development depends on multiple factors, including motor skills, which influence key cognitive functions. Objective: To determine the relationship between general intelligence and the development of motor skills in children of initial education Methodology: It was a basic, descriptive, correlational, quantitative, non-experimental and cross-sectional study. The data were collected through the application of the Goodenough Test and the Motor Skills Test to 174 children in early childhood education. Results: The analysis showed a positive and significant correlation between motor skills and general intelligence in children of initial education (r = 0.201, p = 0.008). Most of the children fell into the categories of "Normal Bright" and "Normal Bright High", suggesting typical cognitive development. Differences were observed by sex, where boys excelled at higher levels of general intelligence, while girls had a higher proportion in lower-performing categories Conclusions: A positive and significant relationship between the variables of the study was confirmed. The findings suggest that motor development influences cognitive performance, highlighting the importance of its promotion in early childhood education.
