Historia de las Instituciones Jurídicas en Paraguay
This research analyzes the relevance of Paraguayan legal history in the education of lawyers, through a comparative examination of law programs from different universities. The study reveals that Paraguayan educational institutions offer complementary perspectives on national legal history, ranging from classical views focused on Roman law to contemporary approaches that incorporate technology and international law. The results show that despite methodological differences among universities, all recognize the importance of historical and epistemic foundations for a comprehensive understanding of Paraguay’s legal system. Additionally, the article highlights how the study of legal history becomes a valuable pedagogical tool to foster critical thinking, contextual understanding of positive law, and reflective analysis of current legal institutions. This approach allows students to connect the present with the past and better prepare for a professional practice that is informed and committed to social justice and democratic values.
