Gestión del riesgo de seguridad y salud en el trabajo del cultivo de la cebolla. Caso de estudio en la vereda Susacá del municipio de Aquitania, Boyacá
Occupational safety and health (OSH) of agricultural workers is essential to protect their physical and mental well-being. Due to the nature of the tasks in this sector, workers are exposed to risk factors that increase the probability of suffering serious accidents, to the point that agricultural workers face twice the risk of death compared to those in other economic activities. In the year 2022, agriculture, livestock, and fishing showed a 13% participation in the GDP of the Department of Boyacá, indicating that agriculture is a line that contributes to the development of the departmental economy. This article explores and describes the occupational health and safety risks in the processes of planting, handling and harvesting onions in the Susacá district of the municipality of Aquitania Boyacá, based on a descriptive qualitative-quantitative study, which includes statistical description and the application of GTC 45. As a result, the presence of chemical risks, biomechanical risks and physical risks associated with extreme temperatures were identified. Also, through a systematic review of the literature, intervention measures were determined to reduce these risks in farmers.
