Från mottagande till restriktion: En studieom svensk migrationspolitik då och nu : En kvalitativ studie om utvecklingsmönster i den svenskamigrationspolitiken under flyktingvågen 2015-2016, samt nutid.

This study aims to examine the developing structure of the Swedish migration politics during the refugee wave of 2015-2016, as well as examining how the politics came to appear the way it does in present day (2023-2024). The study´s main focus is to analyze the events - such as law implementations, EU guidlines, government changes - as well as actors, that affect how the nation chooses to shape migration politics. The research question intended to be the guiding red thread throughout the whole study is "What are the development patterns visible in the Swedish migration politics during the refugee wave of 2015-2016, as well as during present day?". To set a framework around the study, Institutional theory and Multi Level Governance theory was applied during the analysis part. It is through a qualitative document analysis that the study was most likely to accomplish its goal. It would be appropriate to state that the study did fulfill its main task, resultning in the revelation that Swedish migration politics used to be open and generous, but changed as a result of the aftermath of the refugee wave and the unexpected hardships that were brought on to the unprepared nation, to instead be more restrictive.
