FÖRÄNDRADE VINDLASTERS EFFEKTER PÅ BÄRANDE KONSTRUKTIONER : En Studie Av Boverkets Uppdaterade Vindlastkarta Och Dess Inverkan På Bärande Konstruktioner I Olika Delar Av Sverige

Purpose: This study investigates the impact of changing reference wind speeds on structural design and material consumption in Sweden, focusing on the dimensioning of steel columns and concrete foundations in a reference building. Method: A parameter study is conducted, varying wind load parameters according to Eurocode guidelines and assess differences in structural dimensions across seven Swedish cities. Manual calculations together with computational models and digital tools, ensure accuracy in determining material consumption. The results, systematically presented through tabulation, enable clear comparisons of material usage in different wind loads and are providing insights into how updated wind load regulations influence the design on structural efficiency of load-bearing elements. Results: Coastal locations, such as Karlskrona and Visby, experienced the most significant increases in material usage due to stronger wind loads, while inland regions like Västerås and Pajala saw reductions correlating with lower reference wind speeds. Additionally, the structural support system of the columns played a key role in structural response. These results demonstrate clear variations in material consumption on geographic location and structural design. Conclusions: The findings emphasize the importance of adapting structural design to local wind conditions to ensure material efficiency.
