Factores asociados a la Calidad del Movimiento funcional en Futbolistas de las categorías sub 15 y sub 17
Introduction: Soccer demands high physical and technical performance, and movement assessment is key to optimize performance and prevent injuries. The Functional Movement Screen (FMS) allows detecting biomechanical deficiencies in young soccer players. Objective: To identify and analyze the factors that influence the quality of functional movement in U-15 and U-17 soccer players. Methods: A descriptive, observational and correlational study was conducted with a sample of 66 male soccer players between 14 and 17 years of age, using the FMS battery to assess movement quality and a survey to collect demographic and sports data. Kolmogorov-Smirnov tests for normality, Mann-Whitney U test, ANOVA, Spearman correlations and logistic regression were applied. Results: Most of the participants (71.2%) were in the “Alert” category in terms of movement quality, with no significant differences between the U-15 and U-17 categories (p = 0.649). Likewise, training frequency does not influence the FMS score (p = 0.520). Positive correlations were observed between functional tests and FMS score, being stronger in the straight-line lunge (r = 0.565, p < 0.001) and trunk stability (r = 0.585, p < 0.001). However, variables such as age and competitive category did not show a significant influence on movement quality. Conclusion: The results highlight the need to improve the quality of movement and optimize training planning, with a focus on the correction of motor deficiencies. It is essential to implement specific intervention strategies that strengthen trunk stability and improve lower body mobility to enhance physical performance and prevent injuries in youth soccer players.
