Evaluation of water purification process in Murindó based on System Dynamic
In Colombia, Non-Interconnected Zones (ZNI) such as Murindo suffer high rates of Unsatisfied Basic Needs (UBN), including lack of access to drinking water. The objective of this article is to evaluate the water purification in Murindó through simulation with Systems Dynamics, which part conceptual model, computational model and structure validation, to establish an improvement and comparison scenario with evaluation indicators. Among the results, it was found that in the current situation of the municipality there is a high consumption of non-potable water from the river and, therefore, of sick people. Similarly, when implementing policies related to solar energy for the drinking process, there was a significant decrease in the consumption of non-potable water and in the rate of sick people. In conclusion, the implementation of a policy in the water purification process in Murindo improved school attendance indicators up to 52%, economic income up to 98% and cost of treatment of the disease up to 65%.
