Empleo del estudio de homólogos para establecer pautas en la Arquitectura de Información de una biblioteca digital
Objective: to conduct a peer study among digital library portals based on indicators related to the Information Architecture in order to establish guidelines in the design of the National Library of Science and Technology. Design/Methodology/Approach: a descriptive methodology was used and the peer study technique was employed to analyze the behavior of three indicators: contents and organization of the home page, categories of the global navigation system and search systems. Results/Discussion: the behavior of the indicators is presented and the trend regarding the structuring and organization of the home page content of similar sites is discussed. The results show that with the application of the peer study it is possible to detect the strengths and weaknesses that should be taken into consideration in the design of the web portal. Conclusions: The comparative analysis among the digital libraries allowed to know the good practices and to establish the guidelines of Information Architecture. Originality/Value: The research allowed establishing guidelines in the IA of the web site. This work confirms the importance of the application of the peer review technique in the development of websites.
