The effects of menstrual cycle phase on muscular performance in healthy, active females
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of the follicular phase of the menstrual cycle on muscular performance. Nine healthy, recreationally active, eumenorrheic females completed concentric isokinetic knee extension and flexion exercises at each of 60°/s, 120°/s, and 180°/s during both early and late follicular phases of the mensural cycle. Between the early and later follicular phases, both peak torque and the angle at which peak torque was produced remained consistent (p >.05).
