The Effect of Talent Management on Organizational Citizenship Behaviour : A Qualitative study from the perspective of front-line employees in the Battery Industry.

There is more demand for environmentally friendly energy, the battery sector hasimportant influence over Europe’s industrial growth and Sweden is making a keycontribution. Yet, the fast growth has now made it necessary to attract workers who areboth skilled and committed. This paper explores whether talent management affectsorganizational citizenship behavior among workers in the Swedish battery industry. While studies have previously looked at TM and OCB alone, there is a lack of attentionto the connection between them, mainly in Scandinavian regions. To address this gap, thestudy investigates how strong reward management and talent development encourageemployees to act beyond their job roles, helping the organization succeed and remaincompetitive for a long time. The insights are gathered from employees’ writings, interviews and observation which issuggested by RBT and SET and guided by the approach. The data for this study camefrom semi-structured interviews with people working in the battery sector and they wereanalyzed by theme. Results demonstrate that clearly and carefully handling TM activitiesmakes them useful for employees, as they feel it raises their motivation, sense of trust andbelonging. It was discovered that reward methods and development perks greatly affecthow altruism, conscientiousness and civic virtue are expressed. The study found that there are problems with TM, including that talent selection feelselitist and communication between managers is unclear. All these things may stopemployees from putting in more effort than their position demands. It is shown throughthese results that a strong TM strategy encourages members of the workforce to engagein behaviors that help both their teammates and the whole company. By bringing together RBT and SET, this thesis shows how TM results in more OCB andgives managers in rapidly evolving sectors useful strategies to support their workforce. The study highlights that developing employee skills within the company can improveunity, make the company more adaptable and help with skill shortages.
