Educación para la sustentabilidad: integración del desarrollo sostenible en el Currículo universitario

The objective of this article is to analyze the relevance of integrating sustainable development into the university curriculum, accepting this trend as a pedagogical and critical approach that is capable of preparing students for the social, economic and environmental challenges of the 21st century. This recognizes the need for professionals trained in diverse areas and sustainable practices who, from their disciplinary perspectives, can contribute to the construction of equitable and resilient cities. Achieving this objective requires connecting the university with its students, with the social context and the community, while creating programs, projects and educational plans with social transcendence that, more than the theoretical, promote critical action and collaborative work to address complex problems. Finally, it is emphasized that interdisciplinary collaboration is essential for education for sustainability, where different specialties, such as natural, social, human and engineering sciences, among others, can provide multiple solutions to a common problem.
