Ensino de geografia e o relevo: potencialidades do valor educativo da geodiversidade do Cânion do Frade
This study addresses the Frade Canyon, located in the municipality of Ubajara (CE), as a teaching resource for Physical Geography, focusing on its geomorphological characteristics and the educational value of geodiversity. The concept of geodiversity, which includes geological, geomorphological and soil features, has proven to be essential for education, as it integrates theory and practice in the learning process. The objective of the work is to analyze how the geodiversity of the Canyon can be applied to teaching, especially in topics related to relief and natural processes. The methodology involved a bibliographic and cartographic survey, followed by fieldwork to observe the geomorphological characteristics of the region. The Frade Canyon, formed by sedimentary rocks and modeled by fluvial erosion and tectonism, offers a rich diversity of relief forms, such as cliffs and valleys. The area also has great geotourism potential. The results indicate that visiting Frade Canyon can be an effective educational tool, providing practical experience of the concepts discussed in the classroom, such as erosion, sedimentation and tectonics. In addition, it stands out for the importance of environmental awareness and the preservation of geodiversity. It is concluded that Frade Canyon is an excellent teaching resource, promoting meaningful learning and contributing to the appreciation and conservation of geological heritage, essential for teaching Physical Geography and for the formation of environmentally conscious citizens.
