¿Dónde están las mujeres?: Un análisis de la representación de autoras en las guías docentes de Sociología en las universidades públicas españolas

This article investigates the extent to which women are acknowledged as key references within Sociology training programmes. To this end, it analyses their representation in the core, foundational, or compulsory bibliographies of course guides for Sociology modules in Sociology degree programmes offered at Spanish public universities during the academic year 2022-2023. A documentary analysis was undertaken on the content of 450 course guides to ascertain the proportion of women cited as essential references in these modules and their relationship to university, academic year, module type, sociological specialisation, and the gender of the module lecturers. The findings demonstrate a significant under-representation of female authors, notably in compulsory and first-year modules, as well as in specific specialisations and modules taught by male lecturers. Integrating female authors into the foundational knowledge canon of Sociology is a fundamental matter of academic equity and a crucial element for advancing towards more inclusive, comprehensive, diverse, and higher-quality sociological teaching.
