Diagnóstico socio territorial en el Municipio de Sacaba en el contexto de las ciclorrutas

The Government of Cochabamba proposes to implement cycle routes in the Kanata Metropolitan Region, made up of seven municipalities. However, these were designed without considering the specific characteristics of the territory, which could explain their sporadic use, limited to recreational and sporting activities, rather than as a transport alternative. Given this, the question arises: are cycle routes not used because they represent a danger because they have not been planned according to the conditions of the environment? In order to respond to this concern, the UMSS Institute for Research in Architecture and Habitat Sciences signed an agreement with the government to carry out a socio-territorial diagnosis in Sacaba, a pilot municipality. Through Participatory Action Research and a mapping of actors, perceptions and appropriations of space were identified, revealing imaginaries of fear and complacency. The diagnosis was presented to the municipal authorities, guiding the planning of the cycle route as a biological corridor. Three key words were defined to build the visual identity of the place, validated with actors in the process and materialised in a signage project to raise awareness of civic culture. The results obtained will be considered as alternative planning tools for the municipality.
