Desarrollo autónomo sostenible y ordenamiento territorial: una revisión crítica a partir de las comunidades indígenas Wayúu
In the current context, sustainable development and land use planning are conceived as fundamental categories to guarantee better living conditions for the Wayúu community, strengthening their capacity for self-management, self-determination and preservation of their cultural identity. In this order of ideas, the objective of this article is to analyze how territorial planning and sustainable development affect the quality of life of the Wayúu indigenous communities. The method used is the hermeneutic-documentary one. Among the main findings, it is highlighted that the Wayúu maintain a complex and matrilineal organization; however, as a result of western hegemony and the increase in social inequalities, they are threatened by poverty, exploitation of natural resources, lack of basic services, among other aspects. It is concluded that, in order to guarantee autonomous and sustainable development, it is necessary to respect diversity and intercultural dialogue, protect the environment, review the quality of life, allowing participation on equal terms.
