“De gör bara sitt jobb och de är ju inte dåliga människor för att de inte tänker som mig” : -En kvalitativ studie om socialsekreterares upplevelser av samverkanmed polisen i arbetet mot våld i nära relationer.
In our study, we have conducted eight qualitative interviews with social workers abouthow they perceive collaboration with the police in the work against domestic violence. The reason for this study is that previous research shows there is a lack ofcollaboration between authorities, which may result in the victim of violence nothaving their needs met or receiving the necessary support. The absence of a strongfocus on preventative work and the lack of guidelines for how authorities should worktogether may be factors contributing to the failure to ensure that the victim receivesadequate support. A barrier to collaboration is confidentiality legislation, whichprevents social workers and the police from sharing information, risk assessmentsand risk management strategies. Domestic violence can take many forms and reportsshow that there are several deaths each year. Young women are the most vulnerableand to prevent domestic violence the preventive work between social service and thepolice should be structured and developed to support victims in a timely manner.Previous research reports show that there is a lack of established practices for howauthorities should collaborate in the work against domestic violence, which is alsoreflected in our results. This suggests that collaboration between authorities primarilyoccurs in crisis situations, but rarely in a preventative context. Our study shows thereis a lack of inconsistent cooperation between the authorities and communication, understanding of the other authority's work and confidentiality regulations are factorsthat make cooperation difficult.
