The Czech Aid Model : From Post-Communist Recipient to a Small, Yet Strong Donor
This thesis examines the dynamics of Czech humanitarian financing, focusing on the state's role as a small, post-communist donor. It explores how Czechia aligns with international aid norms while navigating domestic priorities and institutional constraints. Through field analysis and civil society perspectives, the study follows the policy aimed at coherence and effectiveness, and provides a chronological analytical overview of the identity formation of Czech aid. The findings highlight a model shaped by supranational organisations` membership, civil society engagement, and evolving policy frameworks, illustrating the challenges for small states in global humanitarian governance, and offer points of analysis of both small and post-communist states within the landscape of foreign aid.
