Criminalidad estructural e impunidad institucional: violencia contra adolescentes casadas o en concubinato en México y en el estado de Quintana Roo
This article analyzes, from a criminological perspective, the structural violence experienced by adolescent girls who are married or in informal unions in Mexico. Through a qualitative and documentary research approach, statistical data, legal frameworks, and specialized literature were reviewed to identify criminal patterns, criminogenic factors, dynamics of institutional revictimization, and gaps in public prevention, care, and justice policies. The findings show that these early unions—often informal and unregistered—reproduce asymmetric power relations with high levels of physical, sexual, and economic violence, in contexts marked by impunity, poverty, and social exclusion. It was also found that adolescent girls face constant institutional revictimization and lack effective protection mechanisms and access to justice. The study concludes that violence against adolescent girls in early unions constitutes a form of structural criminality that requires comprehensive, intersectoral, and rights-based responses with a gender and age perspective.
