CPR Buddy : Hjälpmedel vid Hjärt- och lungräddning

Every year, around 10 000 people suffer from heart attacks outside of hospitals. Survival rates can increase if CPR starts in time and follows the guidelines representative today. Lack of time and uncertainty around CPR can increase the time to act, or lead to poorly executed CPR. This means that the person experiencing cardiac arrest has drastically lower chances of survival if CPR hasn’t been performed before professional help has arrived. Even though CPR and early use of a defibrillator can increase the chances of survival 2-3 times, only about 10-12% survives. This shows a gap in the available knowledge/technology and what actually happens in society today. Even if fast intervention is important, several studies show that a large portion of the general public lacks the knowledge and experience to perform CPR correctly. Even if ambulance response times have improved in recent years, it often still takes too long in cases of cardiac arrest, meaning it is up to bystanders or so-called SMS-lifesavers to begin the response. The purpose of the innovation is a practical and easily accessible product that can be carried on a keychain. The product is a guiding tool to correctly perform CPR in emergency situations and support the user to maintain correct rhythm and depth. It is meant to be usable immediately by both experienced and inexperienced users while waiting for professional help. The result is a helping aid that can be used effectively at the time of heart failure. By providing real time support, it increases confidence of the rescuer while also improving the quality.
