Creación de una aplicación móvil lúdica para mejorar el aprendizaje de las operaciones básicas con fracciones
The present article presents the design and development of an educational mobile application aimed at facilitating the learning of basic fraction operations for third-grade elementary students. The project arises in response to the common difficulties students face when approaching this content through traditional methods. To address this, playful learning strategies were integrated, such as the pedagogical use of Cuisenaire rods, a manipulative tool that allows for visual and concrete representation of fractions. These rods were incorporated into the interface and mechanics of the application, providing an interactive experience that enhances conceptual understanding. The study was conducted with a sample of 15 students, who were assessed before and after using the application. In the first data collection, using only conventional methods, only 13% of students achieved an adequate performance. After a period of regular implementation and use of the application in the classroom, the results improved significantly, reaching an 80% success rate in the second evaluation. These findings highlight the positive impact of integrating educational technologies into the teaching-learning process, especially when combined with active, student-centered teaching strategies. The application proved to be an effective tool for improving understanding of fractions, such as addition, subtraction, and fraction representation, promoting more meaningful learning. It not only strengthened students’ knowledge but also enhanced their interest and participation, positioning itself as an innovative and effective alternative within the context of primary education.
