Clorinda Matto de Turner: a voz feminista que desafiou o Clero ao denunciar a violência contra mulheres e indígenas
ABSTRACT: In her literary project, the Peruvian writer Clorinda Matto de Turner was very committed to the indigenous cause during the 19th century. By openly criticizing the oppression exerted by the religious on the natives in her texts, the author became a declared enemy of the clergy, who began to persecute her relentlessly. In this way, our work therefore aims to show how Clorinda Matto de Turner, in her novel Aves sin nido (1889), denounces the crimes and exploitation practiced by the ecclesiastical authorities against the indigenous peoples, especially against the native women who star in the work. To this end, we draw on Batalla (1990), Barrancos (2022), Cornejo Polar (2005) and Guardia (2007; 2013), among others. As a possible outcome, we observed that the Peruvian author is part of the indigenist movement, taking a critical stance towards the attitudes of members of the Catholic Church, highlighting the abuses of the post-colonization process in which women were the greatest victims.
