Carga horaria y cumplimiento de objetivos académicos en los docentes de Contabilidad y Auditoría: ¿Es suficiente el tiempo asignado?
Efficiency in time management and work-related activities has become a key factor in improving faculty performance in higher education institutions. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between assigned workload and the achievement of academic objectives among faculty members of the Accounting and Auditing program at the Universidad Nacional de Chimborazo. A mixed-methods approach was applied, using a deductive method, a non-experimental design, and a correlational level of analysis. The study population consisted of 17 faculty members. Data were collected through a structured survey using a questionnaire, and the results were processed using SPSS statistical software. Findings show that 88% of the faculty work full time, while 53% dedicate between 12 and 20 hours per week to administrative tasks. Additionally, 82% consider the available time insufficient to meet academic objectives, and 88% believe that reducing administrative workload would improve their performance. Linear regression analysis revealed a significant correlation between the studied variables (R = 0.743; R² = 0.553; p = 0.013), confirming that administrative tasks and the lack of training in time management negatively impact faculty performance. In conclusion, the high administrative burden and the limited availability of time management tools significantly affect faculty performance.
