Adapting Conservation Strategies in a Changing Climate: Embracing Flexibility for a Sustainable Future
As climate change drives unprecedented ecological transformations, traditional conservation approaches grounded in historical baselines are becoming increasingly untenable. The resist–accept–direct (RAD) framework offers a structured response, guiding land managers to either resist ecological changes, accept them, or direct ecosystems toward new, sustainable trajectories [2,3]. In their recent study, Cravens et al. [4] argue that the feasibility of these strategies is not fixed but evolves alongside dynamic social, regulatory, financial, and organizational contexts.
