Гендерні аспекти в тактичній підготовці поліцейських: проблеми рівного доступу та адаптації навчальних програм
The article explores current issues related to the inclusion of gender aspects in the system of tactical training for police officers in Ukraine. The modern law enforcement system is undergoing significant transformations towards ensuring gender equality; however, the professional training sphere – particularly tactical training – still faces considerable challenges that require academic reflection and practical solutions. The authors focus on analyzing the conditions that result in limited access for women to specific areas of police training, especially those related to physical exertion, combat readiness, situational simulations, and specialized exercises. The publication systematically examines a range of barriers that hinder women’s full participation in tactical training. These include persistent gender stereotypes regarding women’s “unsuitability” for force-related tasks, unjustifiably high or non-differentiated physical standards, and flawed training programs that fail to consider the psychophysiological characteristics of both sexes. The presence of such barriers not only creates psychological difficulties for female cadets but also undermines the overall effectiveness of the training process. The authors emphasize the need to integrate a gender-sensitive approach into all levels and stages of police training. They propose revising and adapting training programs based on inclusivity principles, as well as developing alternative models of physical and tactical preparation that allow trainees to achieve equivalent results through different methods. The importance of incorporating gender considerations into assessment methodologies, success criteria, and the content of training sessions and instructor briefings is also underlined. Furthermore, the article addresses the need to enhance the gender competence of trainers and instructors through specialized educational courses, training sessions, and experience exchange programs. It is noted that taking gender-specific needs into account contributes to creating a more open, safe, and professionally effective environment within law enforcement agencies. Program adaptation to the needs of both men and women increases cadets’ motivation, reduces the risk of professional burnout, and improves interpersonal interaction within teams. In conclusion, the authors argue that ensuring equal access to tactical training is not only a matter of fairness but also a crucial factor in the effective functioning of the police amid modern challenges. The study’s findings have practical value for higher education institutions within Ukraine’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as for agencies responsible for personnel policy and professional training in the field of law enforcement.
