Working against the tide : A qualitative Study on Social Workers Trust-Building Efforts After the LVU Campaign

The studies explored the challenges that arose in the absence of trust. One significant challenge highlighted in the thesis was the potential emergence of disinformation campaigns when trust deteriorated. The purpose of the study and the research questions were addressed through empirical data collected from a focus group interview and four individual interviews. The findings indicated that one major obstacle to building trust was the role of the media, which could amplify issues and distort perceptions of reality. Giddens' theory about expert systems and Lipsky's theory about street-level bureaucracy were used in this essay, as they could describe and explain trust. In conclusion, it was noted that the LVU campaigns had influenced trust-building efforts; however, several barriers remained, including media influence, confidentiality concerns, and cultural differences. By tackling these challenges, social workers emphasized the importance of fostering relationships, encouraging participation, and collaborating with other agencies and voluntary organizations.
