Transmission accuracy analysis of parallel compound movable teeth mechanism

ObjectiveIn the field of parallel compound active tooth transmission, there is relatively little research on the impact of manufacturing errors of key components on transmission accuracy and the compensation relationship between errors. A transmission accuracy analysis model considering manufacturing errors has not yet been established. It is necessary to study this issue and propose some improvement methods.MethodsA transmission accuracy analysis approach that considered the manufacturing errors of key components was developed based on the lumped parameter method and the meshing line increment method. Response surface methodology was employed to investigate the influence of combined errors on transmission accuracy. The sensitivity of individual errors and the compensation relationships among combined errors were also explored.ResultsThe study shows that manufacturing errors in planetary transmission have a relatively minor effect on system transmission accuracy. In design, precision requirements for planetary transmission can be relaxed. In contrast, manufacturing errors in movable tooth transmission have a significant effect on both system transmission accuracy and the number of engaged teeth. The peak-to-peak transmission error is most sensitive to fixed disk tooth profile error, movable tooth diameter error, and impulse generator tooth profile error. Retainer radial slot dimension error is the next most sensitive, while eccentric error is the least sensitive. A certain degree of compensation exists among movable tooth diameter error, impulse generator tooth profile error, and fixed disk tooth profile error. In engineering practice, appropriate movable teeth can be selected based on tooth profile errors to achieve precision compensation.
