Tuberculosis miliar en paciente pediátrico
This article addresses miliary tuberculosis in a pediatric patient, highlighting the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in its diagnosis and treatment. The aim of the work is to identify the clinical picture, diagnosis, and the role of nursing in the management of miliary tuberculosis in children. A retrospective and observational methodology was implemented, analyzing data obtained from the clinical history and family interviews. The main findings include the effectiveness of first-line anti-tuberculosis treatment administered through the directly observed treatment (DOT) method, which improved patient adherence. Despite the lack of positivity in initial microbiological tests, the use of tools like GeneXpert is suggested to enhance diagnostic accuracy. The nursing role was crucial, employing the Health Promotion Model to educate caregivers and encourage adherence to treatment. Physical rehabilitation and emotional support were also identified as essential components for the patient's comprehensive recovery. These results underscore the need for tailored diagnostic strategies and rigorous follow-up in vulnerable pediatric populations to reduce the mortality associated with this disease.
