Tendencias Epidemiológicas de las Infecciones Respiratorias agudas graves inusitadas y los Microorganismos causantes de estas en la Población del Departamento del Huila (2022-2023)

This study aimed to identify the etiological agents responsible for severe acute respiratory infections (SARI) in the Huila department during the 2022-2023 period. Using a descriptive and retrospective design, data from the National Public Health Surveillance System (SIVIGILA) were analyzed to examine epidemiological trends and risk factors. The results showed that SARI primarily affected children under five years of age and older adults, with comorbidities and healthcare system affiliation identified as key determinants. Microbiologically, SARS-CoV-2 was the predominant agent, although with relatively low lethality compared to other pathogens such as Haemophilus influenzae and Influenza A(H1N1). These findings highlighted the need for targeted prevention and care strategies, as well as improving equity in access to healthcare services. The study provided valuable evidence to strengthen public policies and hospital management in the region.
