Transformación educativa, decolonialidad, paz y competencias comunicativas

The current civilizational crisis is due to the inability of different human communities to converge dialogically. Hence the importance of employing emancipatory pedagogical capacities to build just societies. In this regard, the purpose of this research is to analyze the challenges and opportunities of decolonial education as a way of dismantling the collective boundaries imposed by neocolonial interests. This is a bibliographical and documentary study, constructed from a deductive rationalist approach. The results show that racist and classist alienations that impede the capacity for social deliberation are being addressed; thus, skills are developed that provoke critical thinking capable of establishing equitable relationships. Liberating instruction prepares for peaceful coexistence by teaching tolerance, respect, and listening—distinctive competencies for intercultural relations. In conclusion, the importance of subordinating, in teaching, the communicative possibilities offered by new information technologies to the recognition of dignity as the foundation of human rights is emphasized.
