Todo hacía pensar que sería un tumor y finalmente no lo fue
Low back pain is a frequent reason for medical consultation, accounting for 5-10% of hospital emergencies. Among the possible aetiologies, Pott's disease, or vertebral tuberculosis, stands out for its seriousness and the need for early diagnosis to prevent complications. We present the case of a 50-year-old patient with chronic low back pain, whose study revealed vertebral lesions suggestive of metastatic neoplasia. However, CT-guided biopsy confirmed the presence of vertebral tuberculosis. Treatment with anti-tuberculosis drugs resulted in a marked clinical improvement, highlighting the importance of differential diagnosis and early intervention in cases of Pott's disease.
