Sobre La dimensión desconocida y Fuenzalida de Nona Fernández
n 2012, Nona Fernández published Fuenzalida, followed by La dimensión desconocidain 2016. Both novels intertwine two themes: memory and its recovery, presented as a unique intersection stemming from extreme experiences and drawing on various discourses. Someone finds a photograph in the trash, while another individual declares in a magazine to have tortured someone. The narrators of both novels are certain that it is nearly impossible to define whether the events narrated belong to the realm of imagination or reality, mainly because both are influenced by other discourses: a television series in the case of La dimensión desconocida, and a soap opera in Fuenzalida. Thus, this asserts the certainty that it is extremely challenging to approach a story that, to the narrator(s), does not belong but was "given" to her/them, a matter that disrupts the concept of truth. Nona Fernández is part of a group of narrators who address the memorialistic issue of the post-dictatorial times lived in Chile, through stories told by their parents or accessed through documents or data from History. To address these questions, the theoretical and critical contributions of researchers such as Marianne Hirsch, Dominique Viart, Elizabeth Jelin, Lorena Amaro, Patricia Espinosa H., Ana María Amar Sánchez, Beatriz Sarlo, and Nelly Richard, among others, are relevant
