RIGHT TO SUBMIT COMPLAINTS TO THE EUROPEAN OMBUDSMAN

This paper will explore the right to file complaints with the European Ombudsman as a fundamental right of European Union citizens. It will present the establishment of the European Ombudsman institution, the selection process, and the Ombudsman’s competencies. Special attention is given to analyzing the types of complaints based on annual reports, as well as the outcomes and acceptance rates of the recommendations the Ombudsman provides to EU institutions. The conclusion briefly summarizes the analyzed types and sources of complaints, highlighting the purpose, significance, and role of the European Ombudsman institution.
