Sex is not a dirty thing: Living in Love and Faith with Maude Royden

This chapter explores the life of women's suffrage campaigner Maude Royden, best known today as the first woman to preach in the Church of England. Focusing on the unconventional relationship she had with Revd George William Hudson Shaw and his wife Effie, I revisit Royden's question concerning "how many ways there are of loving", and argue that this shows up the shallowness of current Church of England conversations on relationships.
