The Sahara Issue: Morocco's Integrated Approach to Diplomacy, Development, and International Support
The Sahara dossier is central to Morocco's foreign policy, which has recently garnered significant international support, including the United States' recognition of the seriousness and credibility of the autonomy initiative. This work aims to clarify the dimensions of the conflict and the United Nations' position on the issue, while highlighting Morocco's efforts to defend its territorial integrity and promote economic and social development in its southern regions through a documentary approach and a review of relevant literature. The study found that the dossier has seen important developments that have created a rapid international dynamic affecting diplomatic relations, in which Morocco has achieved strategic successes and victories at both regional and international levels under the wise leadership of the monarchy. This leadership seeks to adopt a comprehensive strategy that combines diplomatic, political, developmental, and social efforts in these regions. The UN Security Council has emphasized the importance of the Moroccan autonomy proposal and highlighted Algeria's role as a party to the conflict. Morocco continues to make tangible progress in strengthening its sovereignty and developing its southern regions thanks to major investment projects and international partnerships.
