Prijevod s komentarima s naglaskom na funkcionalni stil

This thesis is a compilation of five translations with commentary. Excerpts from three books were translated from English into Croatian (Skyfaring: A Journey with a Pilot, On Freedom, and The Great Hippopotamus Hotel), and two from Croatian into English (Mali i Levijatan, and Priča sa zapadne strane: Tipologija srednjebrončanodobnog keramičkog materijala s prostora zapadne Slavonije). The commentary focused on the register, mainly on the potential discordance between the levels of formality that arise in the text when translating from English to Croatian and vice versa, due to the English language’s lack of the distinction between the formal singular second person pronoun (vi/Vi) and the informal singular second person pronoun (ti).
