Pérdida de patria potestad por abandono paterno: estudio de caso clínico
A psychological evaluation was conducted on an adult, derived from a legal procedure. His ex-partner, an adult woman, requested the loss of parental rights for their minor children, based on Article 308, Sections I and IV, of the Family Code of the State of Yucatán. The claim is based on the father’s abandonment of their three-year-old child and the daughter who was in utero. The objective of the evaluation was to obtain a psychological profile of the father and determine his suitability for the care of his minor children. A qualitative case study methodology was employed, with a descriptive and crosssectional approach, using clinical techniques and instruments such as interviews, observation, and psychometric and projective tests. The results of the psychological profile showed low scores in the areas of problem-solving ability, empathy development, emotional balance, independence, flexibility, reflectiveness, responsible care, and affectionate care. The aggression scale yielded a high score; in the family drawing test, he omitted his children, perceiving himself as a child in his family of origin rather than as a father. These results indicate that the evaluated individual forms insecure and avoidant attachment bonds and shows difficulties in recognizing, understanding, and accepting the attitudes and feelings of others. In conclusion, the evaluated individual represents a threat and risk to the physical and/or mental well-being of the minors, due to the possibility of repeating abandonment and his tendency to act negligently in addressing their emotional and physical needs.
