Nonlinear frequency response analysis of a forced periodically operated non-isothermal CSTR used for methanol synthesis – Simultaneous modulations of two inputs

• The analysed reactor system could be intensified by using optimised Forced Periodic Operation (FPO). • Nonlinear Frequency Response (NFR) method was used for the evaluation of possible improvements. • Simultaneous modulation of CO inlet fraction and volumetric flow rate resulted in an up to 30.4% increase of outlet molar flow rate of methanol.

Abstract

• The analysed reactor system could be intensified by using optimised Forced Periodic Operation (FPO). • Nonlinear Frequency Response (NFR) method was used for the evaluation of possible improvements. • Simultaneous modulation of CO inlet fraction and volumetric flow rate resulted in an up to 30.4% increase of outlet molar flow rate of methanol.
