Nuevas escalas urbanas, vivienda social e identidades territoriales en el estudio de las periferias del Santiago de Chile desarrollista

The article explores the urban history of Santiago de Chile through two dimensions and methodological approaches in the analysis of specific metropolitan spaces. Both approaches focus on the evolution of areas of Santiago that, initially considered residual, have been transformed into residential places with their own identities. While the first of the spaces, the southwestern area of the capital, was discussed and analyzed from institutional historical sources, linked to the socioeconomic construct that explains its course, the second space, located in the eastern area of the capital, contains a description and corpus analytical coming from sources linked primarily to sociocultural studies. Both views offer complementary perspectives on the urban history of Santiago, illustrating how different methodological approaches can reveal various facets of urban transformation. All this in the midst of a heuristic that consolidates the value and meaning of the interdisciplinarity of sources and knowledge in which this article is part.

Both approaches focus on the evolution of areas of Santiago that, initially considered residual, have been transformed into residential places with their own identities.
