Malrotación intestinal neonatal asociado a bandas congénitas de Ladd. A propósito de un caso
Intestinal malrotation is a congenital abnormality that affects the way the intestines are positioned within the abdomen. In a neonate, this condition occurs when the intestine does not rotate properly during fetal development, which can lead to an abnormal arrangement of the intestine and possible obstructions or twists that compromise blood flow and intestinal function, becoming a true surgical emergency due to the associated comorbidity and mortality. This case report discusses neonatal intestinal obstruction due to congenital Ladd bands in a newborn, who presented with symptoms such as bilious vomiting, irritability, jaundice and oliguria. Radiological studies suggested intestinal obstruction, which prompted exploration and surgical intervention. Among the findings of laparotomy revealed intestinal malrotation with the ileocecal valve fixed at the mesogastrium by Ladd bands. The surgical correction involved freeing this bands and repositioning the intestines. Postoperatively, the patient showed a favorable recovery without complications. This case emphasizes the importance of early diagnosis, multidisciplinary management in neonatal intestinal obstructions and their association with Ladds bands.
